| dc.description.abstract | Metamorphosis of women was defined as a process of transformation of power and identity by which oppressed women gain some control over their lives by challenging the ideology,, established by male dominated society. The process of metamorphosis is basically a noticeable change in character, appearance, function or condition in a woman that reinforces self-discovery and sense of-freedom leading against the traditional standards and values. The paper includes a study of the novels Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and Brick Larc by Monica Ali, focusing the metamorphosis of the twofemale protagonists of the novels, Miss Elizabeth Bennet and Nazneen Ahmed. Although the two women are the representatives of nuo different eras, there are still common factors in their principles regarding the socio-cultural dogmas and masculine hegemony about women. Therefore, the paper investigates the complexities in Elizabeth and her prejudice and gender inequality and identity crisis in Nazneen and explores the transmutation of their identity through self awakening. | en_US |
